Redwood Coast Music Festivals was founded in 1991 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to a mission of raising funds to support area programs that benefit seniors. The Redwood Coast Jazz Festival was created as an event whose proceeds would help us to accomplish this goal. A second event, Blues by the Bay, was added in 1996. Proceeds of $307,000 have been donated to local seniors programs since 1991.
In 1996, our mission was expanded to include the support and promotion of youth music education. We have pursued this goal of educating our area’s young people about the rich heritage and traditions of American Jazz through a number of programs. To date, $60,000 has been donated to programs that benefit youth music education.
Introducing the youth
of our community to the diversity of music, lending support to youth
music programs and providing support to programs that benefit area seniors
are the very reasons for our festivals’ existence.
